February 03 February 2007So far, February days have been mild and sunny, though it still freezes into the teens at night. We are trying to make an appointment with a repairman in Brenda to get out refrigerator fixed - would like to stop there on our way to Bisbee. On the 6th, we have to go to Vegas again for Carl's orthopaedic shoes, and after that, we'll be heading south for a couple of weeks. I intend to take lots of pictures. December and JanuaryWell, here it is February and I missed 2 months. In December, I made a Calendar with photos from our childhood for my sister Sybille, and she got it in time for Christmas - I can be on time, when I really have to! On the 19th of December we met with Gene and Doris in Lake Havasu City and caught up on the gossip of the past year. Nice visit. All throughout December Carl was doctoring on his infected leg and finally on Christmas Day I took him to the Emergency Room in the VA Hospital in Las Vegas. They kept him at the Hospital for 4 days and doused him with antibiotics and I picked him up on December 29th.
We had freezing weather almost every night during December, but the days were still fairly mild. Then came January. In January, it froze every night, and on the 13th and 14th it got down to 3.4 degrees F! It never warmed up enough during the days to defrost, and we have one pipe in the belly of the RV that freezes when temperatures get into the teens, so for 2 days we had no hot water at all and only cold water running in the bathroom, and thankfully, the toilet flushed! I had an appointment at the SS Office in Vegas on January 18, and we were contemplating going to Vegas on the 17th and staying overnight at a Casino so we could take showers, but "unfortunately" on the 16th the pipe thawed and we had hot water again! No overnight Casino stay!
On January 8th, we had to put Pancho to sleep. He was almost 16 years old and had become very weak and suffering with arthritis. He is buried so I can see his grave from the dining room window. We miss him very much! He always liked to share his food with all the wild critters out there, so there is a bowl on his grave where I put scraps and food for his friends.
On January 30th the refrigerator went out - dead cold, uuh, I mean warm! |
